Posting rules
Simple rules that keep listings useful and the site friendly. Listings that break them may be removed, and repeat offenders may lose their account.
Good listings
- Be accurate. Describe what you're offering honestly, including its condition and the real price.
- Pick the right category, type and town. Use "Others" if nothing fits.
- One listing per item. Don't post the same ad repeatedly or in several categories.
- Keep it local. Listings should be for the Hamilton area.
- Keep it current. Remove your listing once the item is sold or the role is filled.
Not allowed
- Anything illegal, including stolen goods, weapons, drugs, counterfeit items and recalled products.
- Scams, pyramid schemes, or jobs that charge applicants fees.
- Adult content or services.
- Hate speech, harassment, or discrimination — including in housing and job ads.
- Pets for sale (rehoming with a small fee is fine, in Community).
- Other people's personal information, photos or content you don't have rights to.
- Misleading prices, fake listings or "bait" ads.
Category notes
- Housing: follow Ontario's Human Rights Code — don't exclude people based on race, religion, family status, disability and other protected grounds. Shared accommodation where you live in the home has some exceptions.
- Jobs: state the pay or pay range where you can. Never ask applicants for money or banking details.
- Home food: follow local public-health rules and list common allergens.
- Deals: include when the offer ends and any conditions.
